I have to admit; the Key West marketing plan was brilliant! Just in case you don't know what I'm talking about, Ithaca's tourism folks decided to send visitor's to Key West via a link on the Visit Ithaca website. Turns out, it was the coldest day of the year and our town went viral with tweets, chirps, views, etc, etc.
I understand why they did it. I have lived here on the East Coast since I was about twelve years old and this was one of the coldest and longest winters I can remember in a long time. Don't misunderstand - I LOVE WINTER.
However, even us winter folk eventually need the sun and some level of warmth to remind us of the seasons and pleasantries in life. At one point, I thought I would have to put my husband on a plane and into therapy in some warm climate to rejuvenate him.
I knew we had "turned the corner"when I drove home the other day and had to avoid strollers, cyclists, walkers, dogs and parked cars. It was 45 degrees but everyone was acting like it was 75. I could have sworn I saw a pair of flip flops at one point.
So I am happy to say - welcome back. We can't wait to see you. Come enjoy all the beauty and sights, sounds and tastes that Ithaca has to offer.
