I love this job.
They say that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. I finally understand. I absolutely love hosting to people who are traveling. It doesn't matter if they are passing through for the purpose of a happy event such as a graduation or wedding or something more somber such as a memorial to bury a loved on.
I basically love people. I have found that no matter who you are, or where you come from or where you are heading, you are a human being. We all basically have the same needs which are:
To feel like we belong
To feel loved or cared for
To feel sheltered and protected
I have learned that in my own small way when folks travel, I get to play a small part in some of these basic needs when they are out and about and not in their normal element which tends to make some feel a little more vulnerable.
I love it when someone walks into the Homestead and feel like they have come home to a place that is warm and inviting, sheltered and offers protection from the world outside. Corny huh? I know.... But it's wonderful for me and so far I have loved every minute of it.
Welcome to the Homestead.
